Bass Pro Shop is an outdoor recreation and sporting goods store. Beyond being a regular retail store, there are giant tanks full of fish. The location in Las Vegas is connected to the Silverton Casino, which also has a giant fish tank with “mermaid” appearances.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Bass Pro is connected to and on the south side of Silverton Casino, so go around to the south side and park there. The entrance is huge and you can’t miss it. When you go in the main entrance, proceed straight ahead to see the little bridge and big fish display. After than you can head over toward the connection to the casino (this would be to your left when you first walk through the Bass Pro entrance). There is a big waterfall/indoor pond area with more fish and ducks. Directly when you exit the Bass Pro part of the building you will see the Silverton fish tank. They have interactive feeding shows at 1:30 and 4:30 each day where a marine biologists answers questions, as well as “mermaid” swims Thursday through Sunday (schedule here).
WHAT TO TAKE
Anything you would normally take with you to a shopping-type activity. There is plenty of room to maneuver a stroller and I like to take one because something about big stores makes my 2-year-old want to make a run for it and hide. I personally wouldn’t plan on staying longer than an hour inside so you won’t need much supply-wise.
We were in the area and decided to stop by. The kids liked the fish displays a lot. The Silverton tank was a bigger hit because of the “iconic” (Nemo, Dory) aquarium fish, as opposed to the more realistic (catfish, etc) species in the Bass Pro display. We weren’t there at a feeding or mermaid time, but still enjoyed it.
WHAT WE LIKED
It was almost like going to an aquarium, except free!
WHAT WE DIDN’T LIKE
I usually choose not to go to activities – especially with the kids – that are connected to casinos. We don’t typically go to the movie theaters or bowling alleys that are in casino venues for various reasons, but I made an exception for this outing. The good news was it didn’t smell like smoke, the bad news was the tank was very near the slot machines.
WILL WE GO AGAIN
We likely won’t go again just to see the fish displays, but Bass Pro has some family events scheduled that look like a lot of fun (see their Facebook page) that I think we will go back for. Also, Cracker Barrell is a favorite family restaurant of ours that somewhat recently came to Las Vegas and is located in the parking lot of Bass Pro, so I could see us visiting again if we were out there to go to Cracker Barrell.
